As with all emotions, happiness begins with our
internal belief system. Our thinking is driven
by our beliefs. If you believe life is a downer,
your thinking, feelings, and actions will bring
that to fruition. It's a matter of either seeing
the glass half-empty or half-full. If you see
the glass as being half-empty, you may find yourself
always longing for happiness; half-full believers
have a better chance of looking for the possibilities
in life. These individuals are more apt to see
life through a positive lens.
CREATING BALANCE IN OUR LIVES ...
Happiness seems to work well in our lives when
we bring balance to those areas that need our
attention, such as, family life, careers, relationships,
self, leisure, and our spiritual urgings. If
one or more of these components are absent from
our attention, we may feel depleted, unhappy,
and disconnected from life. Simply, we become
inert, unmotivated. To create balance, we must
find purpose in each of these areas of our lives.
BOBBING AIMLESSLY OFF COURSE!
Happy people invite change into their lives
rather than waiting for change to direct them.
They see the "high seas" in their
lives as challenges to overcome; rather than
bobbing aimlessly off course, they chart a new
co-ordinance for their lives. It is about looking
ahead with hope, anticipation, and with purpose.
WHEN WAS LIFE THE GREATEST FOR YOU?
If you say any other time in your life other
than the present time, you're living in the
past and existing in the present with little
hope for the future. Our attitude in the present
moment can be a good predictor of how we'll
experience life in the future because it is
only the present that we can control. Wishing
your life toward happiness won't bring happiness;
however, directing your life with purpose will
move you toward a life of meaning and happiness.
Happiness is very much about how we answer life's
call in the present moment!
Happiness requires us to choose daily a renewed
spirit, a renewed sense of direction, and a
renewed enthusiasm for life!
WHAT IS YOUR OVERALL LIFE PURPOSE RIGHT
NOW?
Defining our sense of purpose requires our
taking an inventory of what choices we are making.
We are called to identify our sense of personal
meaning and ask whether we are aligned with
our values. The more we are attuned to our life
meaning (our spiritual intuitiveness), the more
we will generate a passion for life. Renewing
the power of spirit in our lives will create
a more authentic sense of happiness within.
